“Dr. Alice Hamilton Still Saving Lives” with Janet Lemond

“Dr. Alice Hamilton Still Saving Lives” with Janet Lemond
April 5 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Have you ever wondered how our ancestors survived the harsh working conditions of the Industrial Revolution? Have you ever wondered where the organizations that assisted in the most recent COVID epidemic came from? Or did you wonder who were the pioneers who discovered lead toxicity and also helped the “mad hatters” from Danbury, CT? On Saturday, April 5th, at noon, Lyme Public Library, 482 Hamburg Rd, Lyme, CT 06371 will host a presentation to answer these questions. The presentation will highlight a past local resident, Dr. Alice Hamilton, neighbor of William Gillette. This presentation is the work of Janet Lemond, C.I.H., who spent most of her life in the safety and health profession. Ms. Lemond worked for both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). While at OSHA, she was responsible for sampling at Ground Zero following the 911 attacks. While with the EPA, she was employed in Washington D.C. and assisted with nationwide proactive health initiatives. This presentation will be both informative and empowering. Following the presentation, books will be available for purchase. Prepare to be amazed!
