AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

 

 

Art and Books with Kristen Thornton for Grades K-5, Wednesdays, October 10, November 14, and December 12 from 3:15 – 4:30 P.M.

Kristen Thornton will conduct after school art programs which will feature a story, based on a recent or notable children’s book, and art activity.

 

Oct. 10The Adventures of Beekle: the Unimaginary Friend by Dan Santat/cityscape drawing with a 3D Beekle character

Nov. 14Thanksgiving Rules by Laurie Friedman/Thanksgiving placemats

Dec. 12How to Catch an Elf by Adam Wallace/Model Magic 3D Holiday Elves

Toying with Science with Kristen Thornton for Grades 3-5, Wednesdays, October 17, November 28, and December 19 from 3:15 – 4:30 P.M.

 

Each session will explore a principle of physics or chemistry by making something fun that works, with everyday materials!

 

Oct. 17 – Spooky Halloween dry ice experiments

Nov. 28 – Engineering challenges using cups, blocks, and popsicle sticks

Dec. 19 – Christmas tree STEM activities

Open Studio – Still Life with Kristen Thornton (Grades 6-12) Tuesdays from 5:00 - 6:00 P.M

 

Students will recreate Still Life exhibits from their choice of media and materials, i.e. painting (watercolors/oils) or drawing (charcoals/pastels.) Kristen Thornton will guide them through their projects as they work at their individual paces. Materials will be supplied for all programs, but students may bring their own supplies if they choose.  Limited to 10 participants.  Please call or email programreg@lymepl.org to register.  (The class will run through December 18, will take a 2 week break for the holidays, and resume on January 8, 2019.)
