July/August/September 2017 Programs

 

 

Summer Open Studio - Still Life with Kristen Thornton (Grades 6-12) Tuesdays July 11th, 25th, and August 8th from 5:00 - 6:00 P.M.

Students will recreate Still Life exhibits from their choice of media and materials, i.e. painting (watercolors/oils) or drawing (charcoals/pastels.) Kristen Thornton will guide them through their projects as they work at their individual paces. Materials will be supplied for all programs, but students may bring their own supplies if they choose.  Limited to 10 participants.  Please call or email programreg@lymepl.org to register.  Please note: Fall Open Studio Classes will resume on September 12.

 

Summer Art Programs with Kristen Thornton (for children entering grades K-5) –Build a Better World – Tuesdays, July 11th, 25th, and August 8th from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M.

Summer Science Programs with Kendall Perkins (for children entering K-5), Wednesday, July 5th, and Tuesdays, July 18th, August 1st and 15th from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M.

 

Keeping with the summer reading theme of Build a Better World, participants will build bridges, enhance the world with music (build a musical instrument), and build with recycled and earth friendly materials. Each week they will explore a simple design concept, and a variety of materials.  These programs are hands on, and creative thought is encouraged.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

 

Art and Books with Kristen Thornton for Grades K-5, Wednesday, September 13th from 3:15-4:30 P.M.

Kristen Thornton will conduct after school art programs which will feature a story, based on a recent or notable children’s book, and art activity.

 

Wednesday, Sept.13 – The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires/ Clay and Found Object Sculptures

Toying with Science for Grades 3-5 with Kendall Perkins, Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 3:15 – 4:30 P.M.

Each session will explore a principle of physics or chemistry by making something fun that works, with everyday materials!
