Art and Books with Kristen Thornton for Grades K-5, Wednesdays, April 24th and May 15th from 3:15 – 4:30 P.M.

Kristen Thornton will conduct after school art programs which will feature a story, based on a recent or notable children’s book, and art activity.

Toying with Science with Kristen Thornton for Grades 3-5, Wednesdays May 1st and May 22nd from 3:15 – 4:30 P.M.


Each session will explore a principle of physics or chemistry by making something fun that works, with everyday materials!

Open Studio – Still Life with Kristen Thornton (Grades 6-12) Tuesdays from 5:00 - 6:00 P.M through June 4th


Students will recreate Still Life exhibits from their choice of media and materials, i.e. painting (watercolors/oils) or drawing (charcoals/pastels.) Kristen Thornton will guide them through their projects as they work at their individual paces. Materials will be supplied for all programs, but students may bring their own supplies if they choose.  Limited to 10 participants.  Please call or email programreg@lymepl.org to register.  (The class will not meet on April 16th and May 28th.)




Open Studio Art Show – June 11th – July 9th

Students in Kristen Thornton’s Open Studio class will be exhibiting their art in the Library Community Room.  There will be an opening reception on Tuesday, June 11th at 5:00 P.M. Please come and see the imaginative and creative work the students are doing!


Summer Reading Program

The themes of this year’s Summer Reading Program is A Universe of Stories. Children are invited to join Kristen Thornton for activities throughout the summer.  The kickoff will be during the last week of June, and there will be two programs in July and one in August.  Please check our website and events calendar, or check back at the library for exact dates in June.



Lyme Consolidated School Fifth Grade Art Show

Fifth Grade Unwound

One may not think of a skein of yarn or a ball of thread as the most exciting materials in an artist’s toolbox. But in the hands of Lyme School’s creative fifth grade students, yarn and thread has been used to create incredible works of art. Please join us in the Library Community Room on Friday, May 10th, 2019, for the Opening Reception of “Fifth Grade Unwound,” featuring the captivating, three-dimensional art of Lyme School’s fifth-grade students.
